International Conference “Responsible Care: Business – New Technologies – Social Responsibility”

Responsible Care is the key instrument of the global chemical industry. It facilitates achieving higher levels of safe engineering, working and ecology as well as improvement of products and manufacturing processes. UN Environment Program (UNEP) approved RC as one of the key instruments for sustainable development of the chemical industry.

Representatives of the largest foreign and Russian chemical companies and international trade unions took part in the international conference in Saint-Petersburg. One of the leading members of “Chemical ESHQ” (Environment, Safety, Health, Quality) department of Evonik Industries Dr. Wolfgang Bergstein gave a speech titled “New Technologies and Social Responsibility in Evonik Industries”.

Evonik integrated the principles of the global initiative of chemical industry Responsible Care® into its policy of environmental protection, safety, healthcare and quality (ESHQ).

Our chemicals business area is member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development” and econsense, the sustainability platform of the German Industry Association (BDI).

Today Evonik offers products, services and solutions for more efficient consumption of natural resources and CO2 emissions to its clients all over the world. They include production of components for solar cells, technology and components for “environmentally friendly” tires which allow to save fuel; modern, light and energy saving materials, e.g. for transport vehicles; energy which is generated by electric power stations with a significantly lower consumption of coal, renewable sources for power generation as well as energy solutions for housing construction. We use new technologies and constantly improve our production processes and logistics to reduce impacts on the environment.
